LPA off Mindanao has the potential to intensify into a cyclone.
The state weather bureau reported a low pressure area (LPA) off Mindanao on Friday, which could develop into a tropical cyclone.
Based on the 4 p.m. position, the LPA was 570 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration bulletin
For the time being, the LPA has no direct effects over the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), and the southwest monsoon, locally known as "habagat," remains the dominant weather disturbance in the country, particularly in the west.
Ordinario predicted a storm inside PAR by next week based on their analysis.
The Cordillera, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Metro Manila, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and Soccsksargen can expect cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the effects of the southwest monsoon.
